Artist Indominus8 8 String Electric Guitar - Black Chrome
Artist Indominus8 8 String Electric Guitar - Black Chrome
Tune even lower with the Artist Indominus8. This is the perfect 8 String guitar to take you on that journey into the world of super low-tuned Metal, and Djent.
The Indominus8 has a similar body shape to that of the "super-strat" and combines a cool gloss-black basswood body with a maple bolt-on neck. The chrome hard-tail string-through bridge ensures that the instrument has the great sustaining capabilities so necessary in achieving that "metal wail". As should be the case, the controls are simple and effective, 1 volume, 1 Tone and 3-way Toggle selector. The guitar is fitted with 10-74 gauge strings.
With moderate to high output passive ceramic humbuckers installed in soap-bar mounts, this guitar has a tight low end allowing for that familiar lower-mid growl that you should hear in any quality 8 string on the market.
It should be noted that this guitar is a newer upgraded version of the original Indominus8 and now sports better hardware that includes upgraded machine heads and importantly conductive paint in the control cavity.
The Artist Indominous8 definitely has some serious hardcore mojo and could be your springboard into heavy metal nirvana. Why not check it out - chances are you won't be sorry.
This guitar has standard tuning posts. In the unlikely event that your strings are too thick for the post holes (if you enjoy playing with heavy-gauge strings), you might need to drill out the post hole and bevel (smooth) the entry and exit of the hole so that there are no sharp edges to break the string.

Indominus 8 string guitarBy: Liam Kelly on 19 September 2019Decent guitar! The strings it comes with are pretty shocking, but the unit itself works a dream.
Awesome guitar. Full review & play through heBy: ANDREW on 1 June 2019I bought this guitar with measured expectations given how in-expensive the guitar is. I have been playing for over 25 years and in that time I have had dozens of guitars, even now I currently have 9 other guitars including a custom made 7-string and Joe Satriani signature model. This Artist Indominus8 guitar is in my top 3. I don't know if it is because I am one of the lucky ones or the quality control is that tight but my particular guitar was flawlessly set up straight out of the box after a quick tuning. The only "blemish" is a tiny bit of over-spray of the conductive paint from the control cavity (who sees the back of a guitar?). I have always been one for "odd", custom or distinct guitars but I have to say the simplicity of the black body, smooth "black" eco-rosewood (so smooth to play) with inlays and black chrome hardware is gorgeous, the head stock is amazingly well designed, with great string spacing and weighted perfectly. I personally find this to be one of the easiest guitars in my collection to play. Despite the larger neck and my relatively small fingers I find this considerably easier to play than my custom made ARM 7-string guitar. Particularly for finger picking, jazz chords, tapping and poly-chords. Yes this will Djent but this guitar can do so much more than that, in the week I have had this guitar I have coaxed blues, grunge, prog, metal, pop and even country with relative ease. While it is no Telecaster, with the right pick attack, amp and attitude you can get close enough. Leads "sing", chords growl, there is "CHUG" and I find I even pluck and slap on the low strings for a great "bass" tone. Honestly if Artist Guitars was to ever offered to make a custom model just for me (I wish I was that famous) all I would add myself would be a 0 fret (fanned or otherwise) and factory fitted piezo pickup under the bridge with active hardware. I would love to install a piezo pickup under my bridge for acoustic tones now but don't wish to void my 3 year warranty. I suspect though that with the string spacing, ease of playing and right set up I could effectively superseded almost all my other guitars, including my acoustics. I use heavy picks and I am quite heavy handed, unintentionally playing the top string so hard I would induce fret buzz but this took little time to adjust to, so please keep that in mine if you are heavy handed like me. I have also found playing standing up more comfortable than sitting due to the neck. . . but hey who can stay seated while playing rock/metal? Keep this in mind though if you are use to sitting. In conclusion this is my first product from Artist Guitars and had very reserved expectations however this guitar has stunned me, particularly given the price. If you are tentative about getting an 8 string I would very highly recommend this one. Even if in the long run you find playing 8 strings is not for you I have found it exceptionally easy to play it as a "6 string". If Artist Guitars ever happen to read this and decide to make a model with a 0 fret (fanned or otherwise) and factory fitted piezo pickup under the bridge with active hardware please contact me (order #AG475083) and let me know :) - Andrew
