Artist Grungemaster

This little guitar - it is physically small but with a Fender strat scale length - straight out of the box feels and looks great. The designer deserves some cake with his coffee. I build kitset guitars as a hobby and have been playing bass (mainly) and guitar for longer then most of you have been alive. From a design PoV, for its price it's quite an achievement. The neck binding echoes the 3 ply pic guard, the cream P90's switch top and vol and tone knobs together look great. The guitar is simple - vintage - nothing extraneous, nothing not needed (is that right?) good paint, lovely tortoise shell pick guard, Gibby style tune o matic bridge and stop bar and last but not least the tuners and the head stock are a piece de resistance. Some high priced guitars (one starting with 'P' for instance) have ugly head stock shapes. This wee feller is great. Not OTT, embossed 'Artist' brand name which I've not seen before. Clever. I played thru a VOX AC50 mini amp and Celestion Greenback to start with. Fairly impressed but my lead guitar man is on his way around to give it a right thrashing. I'm a Bassist first and rhythm git second. I love P90's and have them in a couple of others - a LP Junior and a homemade lap steel (don't laugh! it can take the roof off with its Tone master P90) - and was what sold me on this guitar. Fatter then a single coil but not as dirty as a HB. Great pickups and look awesome. All in all, for the price this little beastie is a winner. The black hard case is excellent too. Well done people. Very impressed.

amazing service

This is my second purchase from Artist guitars and the service keeps getting better. I accidentally ordered two of these guitars by mistake,instead of one. But after letting them know they we fast to fix the situation, and got my guitar a few days after. The guitar its self is amazing, the p90 picks up give it a great sound. the only gripe is the fret board needs a bit of a wipe and polish,but apart from that this guitar is a steal for the price. Black Grungemaster

Well, I have 20 guitars, mainly Fender, couple of Squier's. I'm a real fan of offsets so I was pretty curious on the hard tail Grungemaster so hit the 'buy button' September. Something just a wee bit different. So, when I unpacked it, I was pleasantly surprised. 2 mates had brought other guitars from Artist and their feedback was very complimentary but still my expectations were exceeded. The fit and finish is great, not even taking into account the sharp pricing. One only very small thing is the frets could do with slightly more polishing but playing it in for a few hours, it was spot on anyway. The tone on these P-90s is really strident and sits nicely in comparison to 3 other branded P-90 guitars I have. And the neck is great, smooth and slinky under-hand and fret ends all good. Good weight balance via the strap, overall an excellent guitar! 5/5 !
