Artist GM1V Vintage Green Electric Guitar w/Vibrato

The Artist GM1 has been a favourite in our range for ages, keeping the grunge flame burning for each new generation inspired to pick up the guitar after hearing Nevermind for the first time! However, for fans of the countless legendary bands of this era, the lack of the iconic vintage vibrato on the original GM1 has kept the GM1 from completely fulfilling the sounds of the era for which it is named. Enter the all-new Artist GM1V, now equipped with a vintage-style vibrato system!

Featuring the same awesome Artist Howler P90 pickups, bound neck, vintage slotted machine heads, and offset body as the standard GM1, the GM1V is even closer to the myriad offset body guitars played by just about every Grunge legend you can name! Pick behind the bridge with heavy distortion for otherworldly howls, or throw on some fuzz and reverb, grab the tremolo arm, and strum away for shoegazing goodness!

(Mohair cardigan not included!)

Just what I was hoping for!

I love this guitar. It's very solid, a bit heavier than I expected, but as a result the sustain is wonderful. The tones from the P90's are clear and powerful, and also work well with various overdrive/distortion settings on my amp. The attention to detail is better than I expected, particularly the fretwork and finish. If I had to point to a weak link, it would be the rocking bridge, an issue which I understand is common to all Jazzmaster/Jaguar type guitars. It's meant to stay in tune, even after a deep whammy bar dive, but sometimes doesn't. My use of the whammy bar is limited, so I opted to get an inexpensive Kaish bridge with fixed saddle height, and to add a couple of plastic bushings in the bridge "thimbles" to limit bridge travel. This works perfectly for my use. And while the fretboard radius of the Kaish bridge is listed at 9.5 inches vs. 12.5 inches for this guitar, it works well. It also reduces the string spacing slightly, helping to keep the high and low E strings away from the edge of the fretboard. A minor modification to make a great guitar even better, for my use anyway. As I said, I love this guitar and have been playing it with great appreciation.

Simply a great guitar

We've previously bought the GM-1BARI baritone, which is excellent. Bought this one for my son's birthday and it's great too. The trem is subtle but stays in tune. The pickups have lots of P90 bite and are not noisy. The volume knob has a good taper and cleans up nicely. The neck needed a tiny bit of relief, it was dead straight out of the box, but the frets were polished and finished well. Kid is very happy and won't put it down.

Another great guitar from Artist Guitars

This is my third guitar purchased from Artist Guitars. I am blown away by the quality of this new Grunge Master model. The tremolo is amazing and the fretwork is comparable with guitars that cost three times more than this Artist model. Thank you Artist Guitars
