The Artist TweedTone12A is a vintage-inspired, single-ended, true Class A tube amplifier. Designed with versatility in mind, this amp is an amazing all-rounder, ideal for home use, recording, and smaller stages, and is an amazing pedal platform.
Class A, “single-ended” amplification means the single output valve is conducting at all times, which makes for stunning breakup and the very natural, broad distortion that’s usually attributed to older, lower-wattage amps of decades past. This rich tube compression sounds beautiful when the amp is pushed harder, and the amp offers a range of tones from very simple controls.
The easy Volume and Presence control allows you to dial in your desired treble and upper mid frequencies, along with a touch of hair from the preamp. The TweedTone12A also has a Normal/Bright channel switch, which boosts your upper frequencies and helps to brighten darker humbuckers to cut through any mix. We have also included an “NFD” switch, which can be engaged to change the harmonic focus of the amp, and provides bell-like, chimey tube breakup at lower volume levels by actually limiting negative feedback rather than adding gain. This makes the amplifier very responsive to your pick attack and guitar volume control, and allows you to go from a vibrant clean tone to soaring leads by simply rolling up your guitar volume, without using fizzy gain controls or a hissy distortion channel. This is how the tube amps of the 50s and 60s were used, and the TweedTone12A encapsulates this “play-by-feel” approach perfectly!
Don’t be fooled by the vintage looks and simple controls however, the TweedTone12A also features a premium 12” Celestion 70/80 speaker, which is a great all-rounder. This larger speaker and our redesigned feedback defeat, larger transformer, and increased headroom over the 5 Watt TweedToneV make this an awesome pedal platform at any volume also!
This is the ideal amp for smaller venues and recording, but easily achieves awesome tones with surprising versatility at home-use volume levels also. For larger performances or use with a louder band, we recommend our 20 Watt TweedTone20R instead.

Tweedtone 12 A 12 Watt Combo
By: Rob Bishop on 9 August 2023Artist have done a great job with this Amp. It sounds great, and at first I was concerned that the often maligned Celestion 70/80 speaker would not hold up, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds with this Amp. The only complaint that I have is the lack of a speaker out extension jack. It would not have cost much extra to add this feature, and for all those Guitar players out there that own separate Cabinets, it would have been a welcome addition. Hope that Artist add this feature on future releases.
