The Klowra South Zoo is an ultra-compact digital animal-inspired synthesiser pedal designed for players who want to inject surreal, boundary-pushing vocal textures into their music. Part of Klowra’s Budding Bloom Mini Series, the South Zoo transcends standard guitar processing by turning your instrument into a living, breathing creature. Powered by an advanced triple-voice synthesis engine, it rejects clinical digital tones to produce bizarre auditory illusions that respond organically to your touch.
Triple Animal Voice Synthesis Engine
The core of the South Zoo houses a highly specialised triple-voice engine that morphs your guitar signal into three distinct, interactive animal vocalisations via a dedicated Voice Mode Button.
- CAT (White LED): Delivers a highly responsive, vocal, wah-like effect. It provides an expressive filter sweep with a distinct "meow" character that adds a smooth, speech-like glide to solos.
- FROG (Blue LED): Introduces a unique, pulsating modulation where note decay and trails transform into rhythmic, repeating frog croaks.
- HORSE (Orange LED): Produces a sharper, more piercing tone with an aggressive, high-frequency bite that ensures complex lines cut cleanly through dense arrangements.
Organic Sound Fusion and Touch Dynamics
Far from a cold, mechanical overlay, the South Zoo features an organic, breathing sound fusion that reacts instinctively to your picking dynamics. The sensitive tracking engine reads your input velocity in real time; strum gently, and the animal synth textures remain softly tucked beneath your natural guitar tone. Dig in aggressively, and the envelope bursts wide open, driving the synthesis into a gritty, expressive formant sweep. Micro-movements of the interactive MIX, SPEED, TAILS, and DETAIL knobs allow you to meticulously fine-tune everything from a subtle vocal filter to a fully saturated synth lead.
Taming the Line Between Tracking and Chaos
The South Zoo provides complete control over the "obedience" of your signal path via its three-way toggle switch. Flick the switch to the Pitch Follow position, and the digital synthesiser tightly latches onto your incoming notes with surgical precision, creating a beautifully trackable melodic choir. Move the toggle to sever the tracking, and the pedal instantly devolves into a flat, lifeless, lo-fi mechanical drone, providing vast, unchecked room for avant-garde noise manipulation and industrial sound design.
Hold Functions for Pitch Inversion and Freeze
Pressing and holding the main footswitch unlocks an entirely new hidden layer of expressive performance tools. In Pitch Follow mode, holding the switch triggers Inverted Pitch Follow, causing low frets to evoke high-pitched feline screams while upper register notes plunge the synth into a deep, guttural roar. In standard modes, holding the switch instantly captures your current playing to create an Infinite Freeze wall of sound, randomising the TAILS parameter to generate a grotesque, ever-evolving texture perfect for dramatic song transitions. Backed by the robust WildSeed Engine, switchable True or Buffered Bypass, a dedicated CTRL input, and USB-C connectivity, the South Zoo is a genuine sonic adventure.

Purchases with Artist Guitars come with a 3-year Warranty. Warranty is only valid to the original purchaser and in the original country of purchase. Please take note of your order number to help us verify your purchase in the event of a warranty claim.
If the issue can be fixed by replacing a part, we will send it to you free of charge. Spare parts are shipped from our office in Sydney, Australia. If more extensive work is required our Customer Happiness department will arrange a free return slip or courier collection to get your item returned for further assessment.

If you're not completely satisfied with the quality of any of our products, we'll be happy to arrange a free return of your product for an exchange or full refund, including any shipping charges. This also covers instances where you may have bought the wrong size or if you simply change your mind.
