Kia ora! I’m Amy, aka Raging Flowers, an award-winning singer-songwriter. I teach guitar, singing, and songwriting to all levels, both at my home studio and online.

I’m a warm and approachable instructor who’s especially popular with children and adult beginners. As well as sharing techniques, I love helping people overcome performance anxiety and the fear of using their voices. My teaching space is a safe and welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations. As a neurodivergent individual, I have a high level of sensitivity and empathy that helps me connect with people with special needs.

My music style blends indie pop with influences from folk punk, indie rock, jazz, and blues. As an indie pop artist, I’m known for my clever lyrics, emotional warmth, and honest songs. I’ve written 36 songs and released 10 on all major music streaming platforms under the artist name Raging Flowers. I perform regularly with my 3-piece indie pop/rock band.

I have received private tuition from Auckland guitarist Tam Scholes and American-born singer-songwriter Jennifer K. Austin, and I’ve received songwriting mentorship from international artists. As an artist, I’m best known for my emotionally authentic yet funny brand of songwriting. My song Tissue Paper won first prize in the Brisbane-based international arts competition Out From The Mist in 2024. Many of my songs have received international radio airplay and licensing representation. One of my songs has charted on the New Zealand RadioScope Alternative Airplay chart.

I teach private lessons as well as group workshops. I have hosted introductory songwriting workshops for Auckland Art Gallery, Women About Sound, Queerly Creative, and Auckland Songwriters’ Circle. I am a highly recommended teacher on EAG, the famous Facebook group East Auckland Grapevine!
